Kahoot is a game-based learning platform that can be used for formative assessment in the classroom. Kahoot allows you to create a multiple choice quiz for students to complete on their laptop or cell phone. Students answer the questions on their laptop or device as the question is projected on the board. Kahoot also has a large database of previously created quizzes for teachers to choose from and add to as they are created. This tool is extremely easy to use and doesn't require students to create accounts to login. Kahoot is a very engaging tool for students to use in the classroom, and even better, it's absolutely free for you to use!
Creating an account
Steps:
1. Go to kahoot.com/ and choose sign up in the top right of the screen. You will then choose to create your account as a teacher.

2. You will be required to add all of your account details. Be sure to use your RCSD credentials as you will receive communication and results from Kahoot.
How to create a kahoot
Steps:
1. Click "Create" in the top right corner and choose "Create New Quiz" on the next screen.

2. You then be prompted to fill out a form with the details of your Kahoot.
3. Choose "+ Add Question" and fill in the required information. You have the option to change the time limit for every question and whether you want to award points or not.
4. Make sure you save your Kahoot frequently to avoid losing your progress. The save option is in the top right corner of the screen.
4. Now that you've created your first Kahoot, it's time to play! Click "Play it" which will lead you to the screen you will need to project in your classroom.
5. In order to play the game with your class, you will need to project the game play screen on to your whiteboard. Students can join the game by going to www.kahoot.it and entering the game PIN.
6. The questions for the game will appear on the projected screen. Students will have to answer the questions on their laptop or phone. Once all the questions are answered or the time limit expires, the quiz will move on to the next question.
Additional information
There are thousands of Kahoot's already made for your usage. You can use these Kahoots as the original, or add and remove information that you want. You can find these by searching for them or scrolling through the options below the search bar.
Once your students have completed a Kahoot, you will receive a detailed report about their results. You can access these by choosing the "Reports" option at the top of the screen.
