Quizizz
Quizziz is another game-based assessment tool that can be used to engage students in formative assessment in your classroom. Quizizz games consist of multiple choice questions that the students can answer on their school devices or personal devices using a join code provided by the program. When students engage in Quizizz games, they do not need to view a projector as all questions and possible answers are visible on their own screens. In addition to using your own content, Quizizz also has a large bank of user-created quizzes tailored to different subjects and grades that can be accessed for free. As mentioned above, this tool is incredibly useful for gathering formative assessment information, but is also a useful tool for studying and reviewing information.

Creating Games for your students
Using Previously Created Games:
One of the major benefits of Quizizz, is they already have a large archive of previously made games by fellow educators. To access these games, simply type the topic you are looking for in the search bar at the top of the page, or click on the subject tabs to explore. Note: While most of these games are awesome and ready to use with your students, it is still best practice to preview them to ensure all questions are appropriate for your students. |
Step Four: When creating your own, enter the question in the top area and enter the possible answers below. Be sure to click the check mark for the correct answer on the left-hand side so the game works properly for your students. On the this page you also have the option to add an image for your questions or answers. You can add these by clicking on the "image" button beside each text box and uploading your own files. Note: You can also edit the duration for each question by adjusting the time in the bottom-left corner as the default 30 seconds may be a little too long for most games. |
Step Six: Once you've completed designing your game, click the "Finish Quiz" button in the top right-hand corner. This will direct you to one final page where you will need to specify the grade and subject your quiz was designed for. After entering this information, click on the "Save quiz info" button, which will officially create your game. |
Playing the Game with your students
Step Two: Click on the quiz you would like to use with your students. This will direct you to a new page, which will give you three options for how you would like to use the game with your students.
Live Game: This function is designed for playing the game immediately with your students while they are in your classroom. Homework: This function is designed for students to complete at home, and they are able to play the game multiple times. Solo Game: Allows one person to compete in the game, but isn't recommend for classroom use. |
Step Three: When selecting "Live Game" function, you will be directed to an options page where you can adjust the game settings. Once you're ready to play the game with your students, click the "Host Game" button, which will take you to the game homepage.
