Socrative
Socrative is a tool very similar in nature to the one previously mentioned as it's primary function is to is to provide teachers with formative feedback on student's learning. It's primary benefit is the ease of access for both teachers and students. From a teaching perspective, the initial set-up is very simple and there are a plethora of options to assess student learning. Some of these tools include: multiple choice, true/false and short answer quizzes, team races, and simple exit slips. On the student side, Socrative is incredibly easy to use as there is no sign-up required and students only need to enter the room number in order to access the content created by their teacher.
Creating Your Account
Step Three: Once you've created your account, click on the "Rooms" tab to personalize your Room Number. This number is used for students to access your quizzes, as they only require this number and no personalized login.
Using Socrative Quizzes
Step Four: Enter your question as well as the potential answers (If you're using Multiple Choice or True/False). Also be sure to select the correct answers on the right hand side so Socrative can effectively mark the quiz.
Step Six: Once you have finished creating your quiz, scroll to the top of the page and select "Save and Exit".
Administering the quiz
Step One: Select the type of quiz you would like to use with your class (Quiz, Space Race or Exit Slip)
Quiz - Utilizes the previously created quizzes and is meant for students to work on individually. Space Race -Utilizes the previously created quizzes,but is meant for group work as students are placed into teams and compete against other teams in the class. Exit Slip - Does not utilize teacher-created quizzes and instead is comprised of three multiple choice questions that give a quick assessment of student learning. |
Step Three: Select the type of delivery method you would like to use.
Instant Feedback: This type of quiz will give students immediate feedback after they complete each question. Open Navigation: This type of quiz will allow students to work through the quiz at their own pace. They are also able to able to go back to previous questions and change their answers as they do not get immediate feedback after each question. Teacher Paced: As the teacher, students will have to wait until you've changed the question in order to answer. |
Step Five: When all students have finished the quiz, click on the "Finish" button in the top right-hand corner of the page.
Step Six: After you've clicked finish, you have three options for saving the report:
Get Reports: This function allows you to download your questions as Excel or PDF files. You also have the ability to generate reports that display the whole class, individual students or single questions. View Chart: This function displays a quick view of the results online. To Launch: This function saves the report and allows you to view it later by selecting the "reports" tab at the top of the page. |
Student Login
Once your quiz is live, students will be able to access and complete the quiz in two very simple steps:
Step Three: Students will need to enter their name before they can begin the quiz.
